Course Overview
- Level: Foundation (entry-level in DOEACC/NIELIT IT courses)
- Duration: Typically 1 year (2 semesters) – may vary depending on the institute
- Eligibility:
- 10+2 passed or ITI certificate (one year) after class 10
- Graduates or diploma holders in any stream are also eligible
- Objective: To provide basic IT literacy, programming, database handling, internet usage, and office automation knowledge for careers in IT support, data entry, and programming.

The ‘O’ Level syllabus (Revision 5) is updated to meet modern IT industry requirements. It includes both theory papers and practical components, along with a project.

Examination & Certification
- The examination is conducted by NIELIT (formerly DOEACC) twice a year – January and July.
- Students must pass all theory papers, practical, and project work to receive the certificate.
- On successful completion, candidates are awarded the ‘O’ Level Certificate in IT by NIELIT, recognized by the Government of India as equivalent to a Foundation Level in Computer Applications.
